Tethered in Faith

Church directory

Find a local church, add yours if it's missing, and — if you serve on staff — claim the listing to keep it up to date.

Finding a church

  • Open Churches in the menu. Search by church name or city, and filter by state or province and by tradition.
  • The directory covers Catholic, Orthodox and Protestant churches in the United States and Canada. Catholic and Orthodox listings are seeded from OpenStreetMap; members add Protestant and missing churches themselves.
  • Each church page shows its tradition and denomination, location, service times, contact details, and any public groups linked to it.
  • Tap I attend here to add the church to your profile. You can manage your churches — and choose your primary one — in Settings.

Adding your church

  • If your church isn't listed, choose Add a church (also linked from Settings → Your churches).
  • Enter its name, tradition (Catholic, Orthodox or Protestant), city, and state or province. Address, website, phone and email are optional.
  • As you type, possible matches appear — please check them so the directory doesn't get duplicates.
  • New listings appear right away as unclaimed until someone from the church claims them.

Claiming a church (pastors and staff)

  • On the church page, choose Is this your church? Claim it — or Request access if it's already managed by a colleague.
  • Tell us your role and a contact email. An address on the church's own website domain (for example, office@yourchurch.org) makes review quickest.
  • A site moderator confirms each request — for example by checking the church's staff page or calling the church office. You'll get a notification with the decision.
  • Your contact details on the claim are seen only by moderators.

Managing a listing

  • Once approved, the listing shows a Verified badge and you'll see Edit listing on the church page.
  • Managers can update the name, tradition, denomination, address, contact details, service times, and an “About” description — a great place to explain what a first visit is like.
  • Several staff can manage the same church; each requests access separately. Any manager can step down from the edit page. If every manager steps down, the listing returns to unclaimed.
  • Group leaders can link their group to a church they attend, and those public groups appear on the church page.

For moderators

Pending claims are in Admin → Churches, with a check showing whether the claimant's email matches the church's website. Moderators can also edit any listing and hide bad or duplicate ones from its edit page. You can't review your own claim.

The directory exists to help people find a church family and get connected in person — Tethered in Faith is a bridge to the local church, never a replacement for it.
