Privacy Policy
Last updated: February 2026. This policy explains what Tethered in Faith collects, why, and the choices you have. Our commitments are simple: no advertising, no selling your data, and no third-party trackers.
What we collect
We collect only what the features need:
- Account data — your name, email address (managed by our authentication provider, Supabase), adult/minor status, and optional avatar.
- Profile data you choose to share — bio, city/state, church membership, and optional private fields (date of birth, gender, street address).
- Content you create — prayer requests, praise reports, group posts and replies, devotional comments and hearts, direct messages, saved Bible verses and highlights, mentor applications, and track progress.
- Family data — parent-child account links and the permissions a parent sets for a minor's account.
- Moderation records — reports you file, and notes on reports filed about content you're involved in.
- Notification preferences — which alerts you've opted into.
What's public and what's private
- Visible to members — your display name, avatar, and any bio/city/church details you fill in, plus the content you post (prayers, posts, comments).
- Never shown to other members — your email, date of birth, gender, street address, and minor flag. These private fields are enforced in the database, not just hidden in the interface.
- Messages — visible only to the participants, except that a linked parent can view a minor's conversations, and moderators can review reported messages.
- On your device only — preferences such as theme, Bible reader settings, and read-state markers are stored in your browser's local storage and are not sent to us.
How we use it
- Run the features — profiles, groups, mentors, messages, prayer wall, tracks.
- Send notifications you ask for (replies, mentions, approvals, mentor updates).
- Keep the community safe — reviewing reports, enforcing group audience rules, and giving parents oversight of minors.
- Process account lifecycle requests, including deletion.
We do not show advertising, sell or share your data for marketing, or use third-party analytics trackers.
Who processes your data
- Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage (avatars, devotional media).
- Vercel — site hosting; standard server logs apply.
- Sign-in providers — if you sign in with Google or Facebook, they share basic profile details (name, email) to create your account.
Cookies are used only for your login session. Scripture text is bundled with the site, and fonts are self-hosted — your reading doesn't ping outside services.
Minors
Accounts for users under 18 require a parent or guardian's approval. Parents can set a minor's permissions and monitor their messages until the minor turns 18 or the parent relaxes the link. Youth-designated groups always require leader approval to join.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account from Settings at any time. Deletion starts a 30-day grace period during which you can sign back in to cancel. After that, your personal data is purged and community content you created is anonymized to a “Deleted user” marker so conversations stay readable.
Security & questions
Data is encrypted in transit, and database row-level security restricts who can read what. No system is perfectly secure, but minimizing what we collect is the first defense.
Questions or requests about your data? Use the Talk to someone page, report a concern through the built-in report tools, or manage your data directly in Settings.
